Greetings, Blues Brothers-Sisters!
Elizabeth Fraser Washburn and I, along with your other class officers and volunteers, have been working hard to make this a reunion that will go down in infamy! We have done our polls; we asked for your feedback . . . and agreed to expand the planning group to include Aida Kenyon and Rita Devlin. We did our best to include your suggestions wherever possible and we are committed to making this a reunion that you want to attend! Ladies, this is a big one, and we want all of you there! On Friday night, we have an awesome dinner party planned – “Out of the Blue,” scheduled for you and your family at the much-coveted Observatory. Then, following a delicious dinner, we will move to the Planetarium for a special show you and the kids are sure to enjoy! As this is our 25th reunion, the college is really rolling out the red carpet just for you! Our Saturday evening festivities begin with a reception at the President’s house, where you will enjoy appetizers and drinks. In case you missed it, at our 20th, we made President Kiss an Honorary Blues Brother! Ladies, we have heard your cries and your desire to make this reunion fabulous, so following the President’s Reception, we are heading off campus to Wahoo! for the “Wahoo! It’s Been 25 Years” party! It is going to be incredible! Great food, good times and cocktails are what??? That’s right: included! Not just beer and wine for you women! You deserve the very best!
Now for a bit of business . . . Our fearless President, Susan Crain, has asked that we go ahead and nominate class officers for the next five years, so please send your nominations to Susan as soon as possible at firstname.lastname@example.org. Whatever business we conquer pre-reunion means less time in meetings and more time for fun! Also, we wouldn’t be doing our due diligence without mentioning giving to The Fund for Agnes Scott. We have set a lofty goal for this reunion, as we want our giving to reflect this momentous occasion. How about donating $10 per year at $250, or if times are tight, $5 per year, or even $1 per year at $125, or $25? We would like very much for as many classmates as possible to give whatever they can afford so that we can increase our classmate participation. So any amount you are able to give absolutely makes a difference in our class participation. Why not make this gift worthy of our 25th reunion and give whatever you are able? We know that we are in different places financially, so if you just cannot give we understand! We still want to see your lovely face! We would like it if every member of the Class of 1992 participated in this reunion. Let’s show them that the Class of 1992 Blues Brothers know how to show up!
Elizabeth has asked me what shifted enough to make me want to attend our 20th reunion. I really can’t say, the Blues Brother’s quote at the top of her letter caught my eye initially, but perhaps it is that sense of nostalgia and the feeling that time is getting away from me. I can’t say for sure. However, I can tell you, I made the choice to attend five years ago and it was wonderful! And while I feel I can honestly say we’re all friends, all of us are forever connected based on the experience that was Agnes Scott. There is something to be said about the renewal of some relationships and the deepening of others that occurs when you fellowship with those classmates who were such a big part of your life all those years ago. I can honestly say that the last reunion was transformative for me, and what I gained just by “showing up” is irreplaceable. I gained some lasting relationships that had not previously been on my radar. Last year I gave my first gift to the college, and as you can you see, I jumped right in and am co-chairing this reunion with my new “bestie,” Elizabeth Fraser Washburn. So, Blues Brothers-Sisters – be open to the possibilities! They are endless! And if we can help you in any way or if you have questions, feel free to contact Elizabeth or me.
