Class of 1984—35th Reunion
April 25–28, 2019
Can you believe it is reunion time again? It seems like just yesterday we were closing down the Alumnae Weekend Gala dance party as the last class on the dance floor! Your reunion committee has been planning for our weekend for the past few months to ensure our 35th reunion will be just as fun and exciting as all those that have come before.
In addition to the reunion activities, it will also be Inauguration Weekend for our new ASC president, Lee Zak. The college has many exciting plans to mark the occasion. The reunion website is now active at reunion-agnesscott.org and will provide more information regarding our class events as well as the events arranged by the college. Here are some key highlights:
Thursday, April 25—The college will host the Outstanding Alumnae Award Luncheon at noon and the Tower Circle Dinner at 7 p.m. Leslie Miller has also graciously offered to host a casual gathering at her home near the college for those not attending the Tower Circle Dinner or those who wish to drop by afterward.
Friday, April 26—There are inauguration activities throughout the day from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. These will be followed by the Scottie Shindig at 7 p.m., a casual party for classes of the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s. This will be a great time to visit with members of other reunion classes and catch up with everyone. The evening will close with the inauguration gala at 9 p.m. in the Letitia Pate Evans Dining Hall, very similar to the gala from our last reunion for the 125th anniversary of the college.
Saturday, April 27—The day will start with a worship service in the chapel at 8:30 a.m., followed by our class meeting at 9:30 a.m. From the class meeting, we will proceed to Presser Hall for the convocation at 11 a.m. This will be followed by the luncheon at noon and our class picture at 1:45 p.m. We will have the afternoon free to check out open houses and other activities at the college. We will gather near the chapel right before our party, at 6:00 p.m., to dedicate the bench in memory of Meredith Avery. Our day will conclude in style with our class party on the patio of the Alston Campus Center.
Giving to The Fund for Agnes Scott in support of our reunion is a great way to show our continued support for the college as well as honor the legacy of President Kiss and the inauguration of President Zak. Agnes Scott continues to be recognized as one of the top liberal arts colleges in the country. What better way to show our gratitude for all that ASC means to us than to support the generations of women who come after us? Please go to give.agnesscott.edu to make your pledge today. And don’t forget to check to see if you have employer matching that can double your gift.
Finally, the committee has arranged a block of rooms for us at the Decatur Holiday Inn Express & Suites, located at 2183 N. Decatur Road, Decatur GA 30033. Those of you who attended our 25th reunion will remember this is the hotel with the great lobby area where we gathered each night to continue catching up. Information on the hotel and how to book is included at the bottom of this letter.
We are all so excited for the reunion and the chance to see everyone. Please make sure you check out our Facebook page (Significance: Agnes Scott College Class of ’84) and the reunion website noted above for additional details as we get closer to the reunion date. Please reach out to all your friends from our class and encourage them to attend. We want to see as many of you as possible!
